Odin x Cider Puppies

Chapter V: The Third Week
(Day 15- Day 21)

August 2, 2008
(Day Twenty One)

We started the weaning process by offering a meal to lap and Canon took to it very well. Chorus on the other hand ...She started out well, sitting and licking and being extremely neat about it but as soon as the gruel covered her, she started screaming bloody murder. She's SUCH a priss!

Pups went to the vets for their 3 week check up yesterday and Dr. Van Brunt thinks they are doing well and thriving. Cider has to go on a few more days of antibiotics but she's doing well too. We finally allowed Coda to meet his new brother and sister. He barely sniffed them and was way more intrigued with the toys that are in the whelping box with them. Murphy on the other hand, as usual, wants nothing to do with the puppies. He tends to stay as far away from them until they are about 50lbs.

We are still feeding every 3 hours round the clock and I'm hoping, with a gruel meal in the evening we can extend the time between feedings at night. Eyes are almost fully open and they are stumbling across the box. They still aren't the best at walking but they aren't really crawling anymore. I've heard a bark or two from each of them and that is the cutest thing ever! Chorus seems to the the cuddler of the two. She likes being held and babied. Canon doesn't mind it but he's a lot like Coda in the sense that he has an independent streak.
