(Day Twenty Two)
The puppies can see now and they are starting to investigate the stuff in the whelping box. Yay! This is the fun part. At this point, they seem fearless. They have been busy investigating the whelping room and it's so cute to see. So far, they don't seem timid at all and just started walking all over the whelping room floor and sniffing/licking things. The minute we started the gruel, they became little pooping machines. It really seems like they are TRYING to poop on every new surface we introduce. Just today, they've pooped on a metal cookie sheet, in a pie pan, on towels, on rubber matting, on fleece, and on cardboard.
The weaning is a tad better but they still don't really get it. It's like, they want to lick everything in the box except gruel. They are able to eat a bit and that's a start but they both seem to be more interested in investigating the room.
I *think* Chorus can hear but I'm not sure. She seemed to jump at a door to the whelping room slamming and my clapping but then I started clapping a lot and she didn't seem to react to that anymore. I doubt it will be long now before they hear.
ps--if Cid has a favorite in this litter, it's Chorus. Given the choice of the two puppies she lick her every time!
