Ever After Boys

Day 20
(November 29, 2010)

No pictures today but Grandma Carol has a pass. She had a rough day.  We are all thinking about you! She did promise pictures tomorrow though :-)

Puppies are doing great! She said that she took the bins away because all the pups were getting out anyway. They are all little monkeys running around the whelping box. Ears and eyes are open, and they are starting to get loud!  They are getting their teeth in and Sasha is not liking the nursing anymore.  Carol says yesterday, she would lie in the box 6-7 hours at a time and not move. Now, she can't stand 5 minutes of nursing!  Carol is going to attempt to see if they want gruel tomorrow.  Those are always the best pictures!

I realized after my last litter I wasn't cut out to be a breeder.  I also know now that I am not cut out to be a stud owner!  When Cider had her litters, we would lie in the box with her and watch her nurse.  At night in bed, I would fall asleep and move a little and startle myself awake because I was afraid I would lay on the pups.  Over 140 miles away, I am STILL having trouble sleeping.  This time around, I start falling asleep and in that almost dream state, think that the puppies are here in the house with me, and then my conscious self tells  me that I haven't done any feedings in the last 2+ weeks and I wake up nervous that the pups have been starved!  I told Carol this story and she thinks I am weird.  My answer to that --she's the one who asked (begged!) me to "marry" her for the next 10+ years!
