Chapter III:
Their First Week
(Day 2- Day 7)
January 15, 2007
(Day Three)We had a bit of a rough start today. Slick wasn't nursing well so we weathered the ice storm and slick roads to the local vet. The vet gave him some fluids and we went home and he was nursing well again. Karen said he just wanted to go on a car ride. The pups are doing well now. This afternoon, they all gained about 1.5 oz from yesterday's weight. Cider's milk has come in and she is a good mom. Still not cleaning but she licks their heads ..she's above licking anything else. She wants to be with the puppies 24/7 so we are letting her and that means, less rest for us! Cider is content as long as she's in the whelping box. We can't believe she's a "good mom". We must owe a couple of people a dollar on that bet.
Nails were trimmed and we start the early stimulation protocol today. Sparkle and Slick hated having their nails trimmed but Drizzle did great.
Still no real name for Slick. Maybe tomorrow it will come to us!
