Chapter IX: The Seventh Week
(Day 43- Day 49)

(Day Forty Seven)

Yesterday was very busy for a puppies. On our way out to drive the puppies around, we spotted our neighbors. They had met Sparkle, Halley and Coda at this age and wanted to meet the new additions. Chloe won them over. She sat on their lap and licked their faces. There were a few teenage boys there who they were able to meet as well and were drawn to Canon. He is definitely a boys' dog :-).

After visiting with them, we went on the car ride. You could tell they were so sleepy but they just wanted to watch everything go by. They were very well-behaved on my lap which is the COMPLETE opposite of their mom who on the day we brought her home, yelled throughout the entire car ride!

Since we were out, I decided to stop by the Blackwells as we needed to pick a few things up. While there, they got to meet Ebony (border collie/chow mix) who is the absolute best at socializing babies. She socialized both Coda and Cider and now these 2. The puppies were interested in sniffing her but weren't sure exactly how to play. I guess they are used to mastiff mouthing :-) Canon would run to her and as soon as Ebony would jump into a play bow, he would scurry off. Then, a few minutes later he was back trying to get her to play. Ebony liked to follow the babies around and is just so gentle with them. It was hilarious because they were just so tired yet everything was so exciting they HAD to stay awake. Jamal's grandparents have wheelchairs and walkers so I was glad we got to expose them to these. They didn't seem to mind a moving chair or walker. At this point, there's nothing timid about these puppies. Things may change but so far so good. They enjoyed themselves but were pooped by the the time got home.

Today we did more leash training which wasn't as good as yesterday, there was a lot of pulling back. They have stopped scratching the collars though. The good news is they survived 30 minutes in the crates. I put marrow bones in each (Which they never had before) and they were mostly very good. About halfway through, they both went into screaming fits but it died down after 5 minutes or so and they spent another 10-15 minutes quiet before I let them out again.

I'm skimping on the pics today. I'm sooooooooooooooo tired for some reason!
