Chapter V: The Puppies Are Three Weeks Old
(Day 15 - Day 21)

January 31, 2007
(Day Ninteen)

These pictures aren't as good because the eyes are about half open now and Grandma said no flash photography for a few days since their eyes might be a little sensitive.  Miss Cid is spewing milk everywhere so we are hoping and praying that we'll get through the next week or so without having to bottle feed. It's looking good! She probably could stand to be fed a little less but I don't want to mess with things-- she has enough milk for the babies and too much is better than not enough.

I think the pups are starting to regulate themselves but I'm not sure.  They seem extremely heat sensitive and hate when the room is over 78 degrees. If it's 77-78 degrees, they are happy...I had put a piece of laminated shelving in there as a different surface the pups could try and they love laying on it since it's cool.  The heating pad is still in the box and I haven't seen any of them lay on it for days.  They are getting better and better at walking.  I think they are starting to play too which is sooo cute!!!!

We had been feeding every 4 hours and last night, we tried to see how long they would sleep.  We did a midnight feeding and didn't wake up until about 5:40.  More sleep for us!  Today's weights:

Sparkle - 5lbs 11.5oz
Coda - 5lbs 13.5oz
Drizzle -6lbs
